How the G-scale works
Every capability uses the same five levels. Place yourself on what you have done, not what you could do. Most practitioners sit at G1–G2.

Before you start
This self-assessment covers all 20 FGX capabilities. It takes around 30–40 minutes, saves as you go, and you can come back to it with a new sign-in link.
How it works
For each capability, pick the level that matches your work today. Then describe real work that shows it. The higher the level, the more we ask for: from G2 you'll need an outcome, and from G3 an example of ambiguity and influence.
The Future Government Institute reviews every self-assessment before results are released, and may adjust a level when the evidence doesn't support it.

We collect your name, work email, role and your answers to produce your capability profile and, de-identified, to benchmark against other organisations. Your answers are held by the Future Government Institute (Notion and Resend in the United States). Your manager sees your levels, not what you write. Your organisation sees results by team, not individual answers.
Describe your work at a general level. Do not enter classified, security-protected or operationally sensitive information, or personal information about colleagues or members of the public.
